A deep and poignant exploration of crying and what it means. I love reading about Fisher's teardrop artwork. I like your idea of public crying corners. The concept that crying is inherently tied to love is so interesting. Nothing beats having someone to lean on and melt your tears into their chest. I sorely miss that.

I wondered the same questions as you did about crying...seems like we all have such similar encounters, it could be maybe natural? That we are born crying then we stop and then we learn hey we shouldn't have?

I love this essay. A beautiful exploration of the grief that permeates life on earth right now. Thanks so much for this.

Thank you for this essay, Christa. Your reflections invite us into your vulnerability but also allow us to see the dilemma between what we know/been conditioned to understand about tears, and what we actually feel!

Love and grief may not be open mainstream topics of conversation, but they need to be for us individuals and perhaps for the overarching health of our communities. THIS: 'Perhaps Fisher could lend me her expertise in preserving my emotions through the intersection of science and art.' I think we could ALL do better if we could capture and articulate our emotions to ourselves and each other this way.
