i’m not high enough for this
Welcome to the first edition of ITWYW: the inaugural isolation edition. Like the puppy you see above, I am exhausted. And by exhausted, I mostly mean that I’m old and have no idea what I’m doing anymore. I hate to be the old person sitting on a porch shaking my fists at people going “YOUTHSSSSSS!!!!” but that’s exactly how I feel right now.
YOOOOOOOOOOUTTTTHHHHHHSSSSS!!!!!
Anyway, out of what felt like necessity to cure my boredom whilst in quarantine, I decided that I would send out a newsletter to all my friends and family of the things that I want them to buy for me. Essentially, a wishlist. I know— it’s not creative at all, but in newsletter form, it reminds them to buy me stuff to support my life! It’s partially a joke but also not. (Mostly a joke, I can buy these things for myself.) Look, I understand that this might mean that I’m succumbing to capitalism, but I’m forced to live in a society where capitalism exists and is the main economic system so I’m living it up while I can or before someone tries to cancel me. Who knows, whichever comes first.
I gotta say though, before this goes out to the public— there will be mistakes. I am not editing this. This is being sent out on the fly. Am I proud of it? No. But you’re coming along for the ride, sweaty croutons (that’s what I’ve decided to call you all) and I hope you’re here for it! Now here’s this issue’s list! Some of this is stuff I decided to consume/read/listen to, etc amidst my isolation period, some of it is stuff that I want. Which is which? YOU DECIDE! (Or you know, you can read…)
Sphere + Sundry
As someone who is just getting into planetary magick and an astrologer, I’ve been really digging the work that Kaitlin Coppock has been doing under her line. Coppock spends a lot of time with her collaborators (including her husband, astrologer Austin Coppock) to elect specific times to produce the materia. It is extremely potent stuff, and maybe it’s placebo effect, or maybe it’s the actual goods, but I’ve had wonderful results using the Asclepius series that I ordered more. It’s a one or two person show behind the scenes, so the shop periodically closes when the Coppocks are at capacity, but I truly appreciate her offerings. There’s also a consumers-only community that goes along with the shop to geek out over purchases and the best uses of them. If you are thinking of getting anything from the shop, please read the write-ups that Kaitlin so graciously provides, and also suggests best use-of items because some of this stuff is not for beginners. For instance, the Mother Algol series is definitely more on the malefic end, and Coppock won’t even send it out if the time you order it was unfavourable. Seriously. She’ll refund you.
What to Buy (Me, or Yourself, I can’t make you do anything): Anything from the shop, but especially the Asclepius series. Prices tend to vary, depending on size. But honestly, I’ve spent literally over $300 on their stuff alone.
Hot Tip: If you end up ordering and writing a review on the site, you get a $20 coupon for your next purchase. Isn’t that cool?
Snakes for Hair
This panini really has me engaging in things that I thought I previously didn’t enjoy. For instance… baths (this will come up later on the list lol), and also… candle magick? I’m lucky that Julie, the proprietress of Snakes for Hair, lives close enough to me that she can drop off the candles instead of shipping them, but also… that the candles are beautiful and last for such a long time? They also have really powerful intentions, and she recently came out with a Zodiac collection. I was turned onto these candles by one of my beloved mentor/teacher/colleague/friends, Annabel Gat, who also shares a beautiful friendship with Julie. I’ve found the HEAL/Purple Power candle to be my favourite, and I already have a second one lit up in my bedroom as I slowly keep isolating myself from COVID and the non-symptoms I have. (The mental health and anguish that came from the positive test result did me in though, and honestly, this candle helped with that.)
What to Buy: I mean, if I were you, I’d get on that Heal/Purple Power candle ($35), but she also has a Zodiac collection coming out and if you want to invoke the power of those as remediation, by all means— buy those too! I happen to enjoy this Scorpio one.
The Eleventh Haus
Tobi said I need to keep the amount of companies I feature in this newsletter to three because, and I quote: “It’s 2021, people don’t read.” But I have faith in you all. You read, right? So I was saying that this pandesal has me trying things that I thought I hated, but have enjoyed. And one of those things? BATH TIME. Look, I thought sitting in a stew of your own filth is gross. But that’s because I never had a bath tray, played with bath bombs, and didn’t realize you had to wash before/after you get into the bath looool. Oh, so one of the things I also recommend along with this company is that you buy yourself a bath tray.
I was given this suggestion after posting about my baths on instagram from fellow astrologer and insta-friend, Brittany, or Astro Weather Lady. She has a regular collaboration with The Eleventh Haus and helps curate their zodiac-related boxes, and so I fully support them and recommend their products. I will say, the only qualm I have about the bath bombs is that they can get a little bent out of shape during transit. It’s not a bad thing, but I definitely recommend throwing the bath bombs directly into the water after unwrapping them because it’ll disintegrate pretty easily within your hands. But they have tarot-themed bath bombs, crystal-infused and intention bath bombs, as well as this wonderful fizzy bath salt powder that isn’t on sale right now. But when it is again? It’s over for you hoes. But the scents? The aesthetic? THE POWER OF SUPPORTING A SMALL BUSINESS?! All reasons why you should buy this shit. (Or buy me this shit.)
What to Buy: Anything, everything? Prices range depending on the item
so, what now?
I don’t know, everyone. Life is pretty rough these days, and I’m certainly at capacity with the stress I’ve been under, so this newsletter felt like a good way for me to connect with you more intimately, using my own personal love language, which is gift-giving. Also, I didn’t want the stress of posting something super polished to my blog, nor did I want to take any pictures that weren’t mine and limit myself to instagram. So you get this. This beautiful little baby of a newsletter. If you’d like to support me, you can smash that “Tip Me” button, or the other button that brings you to my website, because… book a reading with me! (Unless you’re a family member. Then we’d have to talk about it because… boundaries?) Or you can also click to subscribe or share my post with others because the more, the merrier. You can also post a comment and interact with this too, so we can chat and build a tiny community of franddddds and loved ones! Thank you for being so gracious and humouring me. You all are such pals x
